Found the export order worth Tk 200 crore at the 24th Dhaka
International Trade Fair. This year's 50-mile audience is held in the
fair.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said this as the chief guest
at the closing ceremony of International Trade Fair-2019 in the fair of Trade
Fair premises in city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Saturday.
The commerce minister is seen as positive for the growth of
the domestic product. The minister said the people of Bangladesh are now
getting world-class products made in the country. As a result, people's
interest in domestic products is increasing. So the product imports are
slowly decreasing.
The Commerce Minister said, "There is no alternative
to expanding export trade to take the country forward. But our current
export trade is dependent on the garment industry. Due to the use of
potential sectors such as medicine, furniture, leather, ICT, agricultural
commodities and shipbuilding, diversification should be done. He thinks
that the export order will increase even if it is done fairly in a permanent
place.
Tipu Munshi said that considering these issues, permanent Exhibition Center is
being set up in Purbachal near Dhaka. It will be possible to arrange fairs
and exhibitions throughout the year.
This year's trade fair begins on January 9 and ends
Saturday. In the fair, 605 companies from local and foreign countries
participate. Out of these 52 countries have 52 foreign organizations.
Former trade minister Tofail Ahmed said, "Bangladesh
is fast moving forward. We have progressed in all respects compared to
Pakistan. In some cases Bangladesh is also ahead of India. He urged
the countrymen to work collectively for economic release.
In the fair, 42 trophies were awarded to 42 best
institutions in 13 categories. Three organizations were awarded for crest
and maximum VAT to 33 associate organizations. Trade Minister Tipu Munshi
and former Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed jointly distributed these trophies
and crests.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Trade
Ministry Tofail Ahmed and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB)
Vijay Bhattacharya spoke on the closing ceremony.
